Bot Hunter Pro is a game I made over the course of about two weeks as a final project for a Contemporary Topics in Digital media class I took in my final semester at UCF. The projects prompt was simply to make a game that conveys some or one of your own morals. I decided to use this project as a chance to push my abilities in Unity and see what I could do and learn entirely by myself, rather than start another group project.
Because of this I purposefully chose to keep the art style simple and low poly so I could make as many assets as possible within the time I had to work on it, since I knew I would most likely struggle more on the coding aspect since most of my experience has been making and implementing assets and dealing with other graphics like decals, particle effects, and lighting. A lot of time was spent learning various ins and outs of Unity that I hadn't previously learned in other classes, mainly focusing on optimization. Additionally I also took my first foray into procedural animation for the robot enemies to avoid having to make various animations by hand, and though its not perfect I'm still pleased with the fact that it works. Other things I learned in the process of making this game was setting up a first person player, weapon and health system, and sound effects for the world and interactions.
All of the models for this project were made in Maya and textured in Substance Painter, additional assets like particles and decals were made with Clip Studio Paint and Photoshop.
